After giving the gift of art to my friend Joie (which you can see here) she hired me to start doing matching sets for here family as gifts. This one, for her husband and my awesome friend Damion, was done for valentines day. Based on the idea of a scald, or viking bard with his Thundercats logo obsession (seriously he has it on everything) this is what I cam up with.
Next up the kids!
These are some really excellent realistic details on the outfit. And that's a cool idea Joie has, of commissioning realistic adventure-themed artworks of her entire family. If I did that of my family, I wonder what my nephew would want to be portrayed as. But right now I think he's too little to appreciate the idea. My 5-year-old cousin meanwhile absolutely loves anything medieval themed, and is obsessed with swords and bows and arrows. He'd probably love being drawn as using a bow and arrow or a sword. I showed him Skyrim and he got really into it, exploring and trying out the different weapons.
Thank you so much. For one of there daughter who is really into martial arts I drew her as a sort of urban warrior with her favored nun-chucks. It turned out quite awesome. I'll be posting that here eventually. They haven't given it to here yet so I don't want to ruin the surprise. She's not on my DA, but on the off chance I think I better hold off.
It's so much fun for me to draw people as their dream. One of my favorite things to do.
